Man Stops When He Sees Pile of Tangled Fur and Sticks – Realizes It’s a Living Creature

In March 2022, a surprising rescue unfolded in Victoria, Australia. A compassionate person exploring the bush came across a strange scene—a pile of tangled fur and sticks. To their amazement, they found a sheep named Alex stuck under the heavy fleece, unable to stand because of the weight.

He promptly got in touch with the nearby farm sanctuary, Edgar’s Mission, seeking assistance.

Pam Ahern, the founder and director of Edgar’s Mission, mentioned in a press release “I’m not sure how long the poor fellow had been lying there. But I do know that, judging by the length of his fleece, he had not been shorn in many a year, and had he not been found when he was, he would have passed from this world.”

Next, Edgar’s Mission swiftly stepped in to help, relocating Alex to a safe place and beginning the process of taking off the heavy coat. They gently removed 88 pounds of wool from Alex’s slim body. Throughout the rescue, Alex stayed calm and trusting, patiently waiting for his freedom.

Now that he was liberated from the heavy wool, Alex, feeling much lighter, stood on his legs with newfound confidence.

Ahern expressed the same feeling, highlighting the noticeable sense of relief that marked the conclusion of a tough rescue.

“I am not sure who was more relieved when the job was done. However, there was a collective sigh from one and all.”

With the caring support of Edgar’s Mission, Alex not only got rid of his heavy wool but also found the comfort of love. The friendly sheep quickly befriended his new family, a group of rescue sheep, who taught him everything he needed to know about his permanent home.

“Chloe and Molly Brown, two elderly and wise rescued sheep, greeted Alex as he began his recovery and knew exactly what they had to do. They let him know that he really had landed on heaven on earth,” the rescuer wrote in the press release.
