Overweight Shelter Cat ‘One Frosty Too Many’ Becomes Internet Sensation, Gets Adopted to Help Shed Pounds
As people aim to stick to their New Year’s resolutions, losing weight is a popular goal that even extends to pets. Making waves on the internet lately is a chubby cat named One Frosty Too Many, or Frosty for short, who’s looking for a new home to help him slim down.
Richmond Animal Care and Control posted Frosty’s story on Monday, drawing attention to his hefty size—he weighs a whopping 28.5 pounds, three times more than a usual cat his size. The rescue jokingly called him the “best-bellied” cat in town and mentioned he can be a bit grumpy due to his weight. As Frosty starts his journey to slim down, they’re hoping to find him a caring home where he can live healthier.
It’s not clear why Frosty is so big. Richmond Animal Care and Control found him as a stray in Virginia, and they were surprised by how heavy he was, tipping the scales at 28.5 pounds. That’s why they decided to do something about it.
Robin Young, an Outreach Coordinator at RACC, described Frosty’s behavior, saying that as long as Frosty can live life his way, he’s happy. Even though he’s big, Frosty can be a bit grumpy, and the shelter knows his extra weight might make him uncomfortable.
Knowing how crucial a good environment is for Frosty to lose weight, the shelter wanted to find a home where Frosty would have plenty of room to move and play. They mentioned that he needs to lose quite a bit of weight, but they’re hopeful he can do it with the right support.
Frosty’s story touched a lot of hearts and went viral, with many people loving the chubby cat and hoping he’d find a home and get healthier. Because of all the love he got online, the shelter got a lot of people asking about adopting him.
In some great news, the shelter said Frosty finally found a forever home! They shared a picture of the chubby but cute cat with his new owner. With his new family’s support, Frosty’s on his way to getting healthier and having a better life ahead.
Frosty’s story, about a big cat needing a new home to get healthy, is like another story from RACC a few months ago. In April, the shelter introduced Patches, who was called “the biggest cat ever,” weighing an impressive 40.3 pounds.
After Patches’ story went viral, he found a great home, and his new owner has been sharing updates about his weight loss journey on Facebook. Frosty and Patches’ similar stories show how much the shelter cares and how a loving home can change the lives of these big cats for the better.
