Sickly Pitbull Found in Trash Becomes Happy Pet in Loving Home

I couldn’t believe it was the same dog. ❤️

Bowie, a dog, almost became one of the millions of dogs abandoned by cruel people every year.

Luckily, caring people found him and changed his life. Now, he doesn’t have to be concerned about what will happen to him anymore.

Bowie was saved in southeast Wichita.

The Wichita Animal Action League said they found the dog locked in a kennel.

Someone who had adopted a dog before saw him there.

She had to climb into a dumpster to rescue him and take him to the Veterinary Emergency Specialty Hospital.

Even though Bowie was skinny and seemed frail, his lab results were good.

He didn’t have Parvo, and his blood tests showed that his organs are healthy.

He only weighed about 20 pounds.

Besides being underfed, he also had sores on his back.

The vets used lasers to treat the sores

Once his health got better, the dog was moved to a foster home.

In his first few days, they saw that the dog was very submissive.

It showed that he had been neglected and mistreated by his old owners.

Eventually, the family decided to adopt Bowie permanently.

Matt and Connie felt like the dog needed them, so they gladly decided to keep him.

They understood that Bowie needed a home where he could feel safe and loved.

That’s exactly what they provided for the rescued Pit Bull.

Their choice made a big difference in the dog’s life.

Bowie’s journey to recovery was challenging.

Luckily, he has his new family to take care of him.

They made sure to give him good food even though he had stomach problems.

After a few weeks, he got back to a healthy weight.

Walking was difficult for him as well.

Because Bowie had been kept in a kennel his whole life, he didn’t know what it was like to go for walks.

So, they had to start by teaching him how to walk for short periods.

After two weeks, they were able to walk him around the block.

Bowie’s personality changed a lot.

He became happier and had more energy.

Instead of being submissive, he became more confident, and his new family loved him even more for it.

Now, Bowie’s favorite activity is running.

In fact, he could spend hours happily running around his new yard.

No matter if it was hot or cold, day or night, he would run around and be really happy.

Watching him enjoy himself in the yard is really heartwarming.

From being stuck in a kennel all the time, now he can run around freely.
