“Terry the Turtle”: Hilarious Picture of Grumpy Sea Turtle Wins Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards 2020
The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards is a competition that welcomes entries from wildlife photography enthusiasts of all levels. It aims to celebrate the amusing side of nature and raise awareness about the importance of conservation.
The winners of the 2020 Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards have been announced, and the coveted top prize went to an incredible photograph titled ‘Terry the Turtle flipping the bird.’ The photo, taken by Mark Fitzpatrick, captures a grumpy turtle raising its flipper in a gesture that resembles a well-known hand sign. Mr. Fitzpatrick captured this hilarious moment while swimming near Lady Elliot Island in Queensland, Australia.
Reflecting on the encounter, Mr. Fitzpatrick shared, “I was swimming with this turtle at Lady Elliot Island on the Great Barrier Reef when it gave me a surprising hand gesture!” Along with winning the grand prize, the photograph also received the Creatures Under the Sea Award, further recognizing its exceptional humor and creativity.

Fitzpatrick expressed his astonishment and joy upon witnessing the enthusiastic response to his photo. He was thrilled to see how people reacted to his photo, “with Terry giving people a laugh in what has been a difficult year for many, as well as helping spread an important conservation message.”
He continued, “I hope Terry the Turtle can encourage more people to take a moment and think about how much our incredible wildlife depends on us and what we can do to help them. Flippers crossed that this award puts Terry in a better mood next time I see him at Lady Elliot Island!”

Robert Gonsalves, an artist from Canada, is known for creating art that’s both intriguing and astonishing. His works of art have a way of making you wonder what’s real and what’s not, leaving you with thoughts swirling in your mind.
Most of his incredible paintings have stories to tell, but those stories aren’t always clear. When you look at his paintings, you might not immediately grasp their meaning and might find yourself getting lost as you try to understand them. It’s like an optical illusion – each time you glance at the painting, you might see it from a different angle.
Ever since he was young, Robert had a passion for adventure. With so much experience under his belt, he started creating complex paintings that left people feeling puzzled and captivated every time they looked at them. He became skilled in techniques, perspective, and the art of structure when he was just 12 years old. He went on to create even more advanced paintings after learning from artists like Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte.
